Happy New Year!
If you are receiving this newsletter it is because You have asked about Mom. If you do not wish to receive it just email me back and I will take you off.
Mom had a great Christmas - she said it was one of the best she has had in years. We had Christmas Eve dinner here at the house with Cate & Todd, Jose & Erin, Andrew, Becky & Rafael, Carol, Justin, Nancy, Bernardo and Mom. Mom was very excited and told us many interesting stories and earned the nick name "Chatty Cathy"! We had the same crowd New Years eve with the addition of Andrew's girlfriend Susie and without Cate and Todd who had gone back to Colorado:(
She was excited to go to CVS and the Beanery at Barts for lunch! Her new favorite food is frozen yogurt. She truly enjoys each and every moment.
She has been enjoying tea with Ann, Nancy and others. Bill and Cathy came down after Christmas and Bill again last weekend. She also had a surprise visit from Sue Jubb Vacek, her husband Roger and her daughter Stephanie. You could hear the laughter all the way up to the third floor!
Bernardo has been a godsend! He is working from home for the next three weeks and is a big help. Mom is amazed that a man can wash clothes, cook, clean and all the other good stuff he gets to do:) If Carol is cranky when you see her please smile. She is woken up many times during the night to help Mom, works full time and finds time during the day to help out also! Bill and Justin check in nightly. Mom is always so excited to get a phone call.
As you know, Mom is a very positive person. She believes everthing has a silver lining. You ask "What could be the silver lining in cancer?" Mom says it has given her time to reconnect with friends and family..time to make sure all is well and say goodbye.
She started with seizures and has had four since SAturday. She will be starting meds to control them. We also had to insert a catheter and her swelling has gone down. She tried sneaking out of bed tonight but we heard her on the monitor. When we got downstairs she insited on walking to keep her legs in shape so we did a conga line through the kitchen.
Joe and Jim Vasko always said the Hungarian family tree went back to Genghis Khan. It must be where she gets her determination and fight!
Thanks you for all your support.
